5 Wellness Travel Habits to Start This Summer (So You’re Not Just Traveling—You’re Thriving)
We’ve all been there—rushing through TSA with a half-packed bag, stale airport snacks, and a head full of stress. You’re headed to paradise but feeling like chaos. Where’s the wellness in that?
This summer, I’m inviting you to travel differently. Not just go somewhere, but be present when you get there. To feel good before the flight, during the trip, and long after you return home. I’ve curated five wellness travel habits that help me stay grounded, glowing, and grateful on every journey—and I promise, they’re simple enough to actually stick to.
Let’s get into it: your new summer travel rituals that your future self (and your nervous system) will thank you for.
1. Mindful Packing = Luggage with Intention
Let’s stop cramming last-minute chaos into our suitcases. This summer, try packing like you pack your energy: with purpose.
Here’s how:
Create a wellness capsule wardrobe—think breathable fabrics, movement-friendly fits, and confidence-boosting colors.
Bring a self-care mini-kit: essential oils, face mist, jade roller, travel-sized wellness supplements.
Choose eco-friendly travel organizers and toiletry containers
Mini Tip: Pack 1 outfit that makes you feel like main character energy. Because you are.
2. Breathwork for Flights (and Freakouts)
Whether it’s flight anxiety or just pre-trip jitters, breathwork is your in-flight superpower.
Try this technique:
→ Box Breathing (4-4-4-4 count)
Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Repeat 5x.
Do this during takeoff, turbulence, or anytime you feel “off.”
Why it works:
This calms your nervous system, lowers cortisol, and can even help with jet lag.
3. Hydration Is Not Optional, Babe
Planes are dehydrating AF. If you’re sipping one tiny cup of airplane water—you’re already behind.
Try this instead:
Bring a collapsible water bottle
Add electrolytes or trace minerals to your water (especially on long-hauls)
Avoid caffeine + alcohol pre-flight if you want to land feeling human
Hydration Hack: Set a timer on your phone every 2–3 hours during your trip to take 10 big gulps of water. Your skin (and mood) will thank you.
4. Digital Soul-Care: Wellness Apps I’ve Actually Used
Don’t sleep on your phone—it can be a tool for mindfulness, not just scrolling.
My go-to travel wellness apps:
Insight Timer – meditations, sleep sounds, affirmations
Calm – in-flight anxiety buster (check out their flight anxiety series!)
Soothe – on-demand massages in your hotel or Airbnb
My Moon Phase – to align travel intentions with lunar energy
5. Journal Prompts for Intentional Travel
This is the habit that transformed my travel experience. I journal before I go, while I’m there, and when I return.
Try these 3 prompts before your next trip:
“What do I want to feel more of on this trip?”
“What is one fear I want to release while traveling?”
“What parts of myself am I excited to reconnect with?”
Final
This summer, let your travels be a form of healing—not a break you need to recover from.
Try these five habits, tweak them to your flow, and watch how they transform not just your vacations, but your entire relationship with wellness.
